Esho Buke Hat Rakhi--honouring Shamsur Rahman

Kanthashilon a leading cultural organisation arranged a grand programme to observe the 75th birth anniversary of poet Shamsur Rahman. Many renowned intellectuals of the country discussed Rahman's literary works comprising mostly poetry at the National Museum auditorium.

The programme started with a dance sequence by Auni and Trishna with the poet seated on stage. After the dance, organisations like Kanthashilon, Udichee, Sammilito Shanskritik Jote, Swarobritta, Dhaka Swarakampan, Swarashilon Aabrittee Academy, Dhwoni (Jahangirnagar University) and renowned persons of our cultural arena including professor Zillur Rahman Siddiqui, Wahidul Haq, Kaisul Haq, Belal Chaudhuri, Mahadev Saha, Humayun Azad, Sayeed Ahmed, Borhanuddin Khan Jahangir, Mahbubul Alam, Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir and Jayanta Chatterjee gave bouquets to the poet.

In a discussion session, Professor Zillur Rahman Siddiqui and Kaisul Haq reminisced their relationship with the poet. Siddiqui recited some of his poems written on the poet.

In the recitation ceremony Kazi Arif, Jayanta Chatterjee, Nayla Tayammum and others recited a few remarkable pieces of Shamsur Rahman.

Kanthashilon's presentation was the final event of the programme in which they displayed selected works of Shamsur Rahman including his poems, novels and drama. The title of the session was Adbhut Andhare Tomar Barnachhata. Nasirul Haq Khokon's illusive light added a wonderful touch to the programme.
