An evening of poetry

Several renowned poets and authors attended the occasion. Poet Nirmolendu Goon, Poet Rafiq Azad, Imdadul Haque Milan, Professor Anisuzzaman, Kaysar Haque and Fakrullah Amin among others were present.

Keeping in mind the World Cup fever, Nirmolendu Goon read one of his poems written during the 1986 Football World Cup titled Aaj kono khela nei (No match today).

Beena recited Moulabadi (Fundamentalist) from her book impressing the audience with her in depth feeling of poetry. In short succession poets Rafiq Azad, Sadia, Kaysar Haque, Fakrullah Amin and many others also recited poems. Celebrated author Imdadul Haque Milan presented a brief speech on Beena, who has been his friend since childhood and mentioned that she has always been a poet at heart. After the round of Bengali poems, Laurent Jalicous, deputy director, Cultural Affairs, Alliance Française impressed the audience with his expertise on French poetry. In his own words "Poetry is about words but it is more about rhythms, faith and music. It is universal and can move anyone from any lingual background."

Beena hopes to release two more books the coming year for Ekushey book fair.
