Film Festival at Dhaka

Under the banner of 'Cinema for all' Bangladesh Federation of Film societies will hold a film festival in September at Dhaka. About thirty five countries will take part in this festival. The selected films will be shown in the theatres of Dhaka and Narayanganj. Tickets will be available for this. Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia will inaugurate the festival on 18 September. Ten Bangladeshi films of repute will be shown. Fourteen films will compete in the international section. Six films on life during pre and post Vietnam War will be focused upon, in particular. Srilankan filmmaker James Pareais's six films will also be shown.

Seminars and forums will be held as part of the festival.

Various legendary film activists like Mrinal Sen, Buddhadev Dasgupta, Goutam Gosh, Rhitoporno Gosh and Rupa Ganguly will take part in the festival. For facilitating the works of the festival an advisory committee of forty one members with the Information Minister as the chief adviser has been formed.

Open air concert at Women's ComplexAn open-air concert is going to be held after a long time at the Women's Complex. Popular bands and solo performers Bangla, Nagarbaul, Dalchhut, Souls, Sub-conscious, Strangers, Nightingale and Cynthia will perform. The title of the concert " Concert for Flood Aid' will start at 2pm,but the gate will be open at 1pm.

Stars show up at Fantasy KingdomA star studded evening show will be held today at the Fantasy Kingdom. Likhon, Nadia, Chadni and Srabonti will perform dance and Ankhi Alamgir, Monir Khan and Robi Chowdhury will perform solo recitals at the show. The audience will also have the opportunity to collect the autographs and photographs of the stars as well.

A musical evening at Hotel SheratonA musical programme titled Shutorang on ATN Bangla has just completed it's 100th episode recently and to mark this event, a show was organised jointly by Euro Cola and Shutorang recently. The musical night with lots of star performers was held at the ballroom of Hotel Sheraton. Popular and eminent musical personalities Shubir Nandi, Kanak Champa, Tapan Mahmud, Shubhro Dev, Aiyub Bachhu, Baby Naznin, Rizia Parveen, Alam Ara Minu, Asif and many others performed at the show. The programme went on till late night.
