The Dhaka Film Society (DFS), the film wing of the Centre for Asian Arts and Cultures (CAAC) has organised a special film-session and workshop titled Films onWorld War IIstarting from today to November 25. In this session, in co-operation with the Russian Centre of Science & Culture, Dhaka, DFS will screen six films from different countries of the world. After the film session a workshop will be organised on November 26. The workshop is the fifth of the series of special film workshops focusing on film-history, film-genres and filmmakers. In the workshop, Dr Zahirul Islam Kochi will hold a discussion on the Second World War and the films screened.

The schedule of the film screening is as follows:

On November 23, Tuesday The Pianist (Roman Polanski, UK, 2002) at 4:00 pm and Europa Europa (Agnieszka Hollan, France, 1990) at 6:00 pm; on November 24, Wednesday Cranes are Flying (Mikheil Kalatozishvili, Russia, 1955) at 4:00 pm and Life is Beautiful (Roberto Benigni, Italy, 1997) at 6:00 pm and November 25, Thursday Father of a Soldier ( Rezo Chkheidze, Russia, 1964) at 3:30 pm and Schindler's List (Steven Spielberg, USA, 1993) at 5:00 pm. This session will be held at the auditorium of Russian Centre of Science & Culture, Dhaka (address: House- 510, Road- 7, Dhanmondi, Dhaka).
