Folk Music Festival '06 at Shilpakala

A five-day Music Soiree on folk genre organised by the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) at its premises, offers a veritable bonanza for folk music lovers. Chairman of the Standing Committee of Ministry of Cultural Affairs and Member of Parliament, Professor Shahidul Islam inaugurated the festival as the chief guest on April 18. The director general of BSA Ahmed Nazir presided over the ceremony. The director of production department of BSA, Zeenat Barkatullah delivered a welcome speech.

The festival features live performances, discussions and special events. The festival began with the presentation of Lalon Sangeet. On April 20, the folk singers presented songs of Hason Raja. The Bhawaiya, Chotka and Gambhira will be performed on April 21 and the Maijbhandari on April 22.
