Four-day cultural programme by Sammilito Sangskiritik Jote begins

"Chinno Koro Ondhokarer Aei Jal"was the slogan at the four-day cultural programme to celebrate Victory Day. The programme is organised by Sammilito Sangskiritik Jote, an alliance of Bangladeshi cultural groups. The function began on December 13 at the Central Shaheed Minar. The programmes will be held at different venues of Rabindra Sarobar, Bakultala at Institute of Fine Arts and Rayerbazar Monument at 4pm everyday.

The curtains went up with the National Anthem followed by the familiar patriotic song

Jai Bangla, Banglar Jai by Udichi, Kranti, Wrishiz and Padatik.

The Utsab was inaugurated by Deputy Commander of Bangladesh Liberation Forces, Air Vice Marshal (Retd) AK Khondokar Bir Uttam. Then followed speeches by well-known personalities --Ramendu Majumdar, president of International Theatre Institute (ITI) Bangladesh; Ataur Rahman, general secretary of ITI, Bangladesh; Mamunur Rashid, theatre personality; Nasiruddin Yousuff, president of Sammilito Sangskiritik Jote; Asaduzzaman Noor, renowned actor and Golam Kuddus, general secretary of Sammilito Sangskiritik Jote and others.

Then came a recitation by Bhaswar Bandhopadhyay followed by Katha's group recitation. Nargis Chowdhury, Samar Barua and Mahbubul Haider rendered solo songs. Spondon performed a group dance. The programme wrapped up with a choral rendition by Padatik Sangeet Sangsad.
