Fun and festivity to mark the foundation day

The Dhaka Club Limited with its aristocratic past and the present glory is one of the oldest and prestigious social institution of the country. The Club's rich heritage dates back to almost a century old history which is deeply embedded in the minds of all its members. Sir Lancelot Hare, Lieutenant Governor of the then Eastern Bengal and Assam laid the foundation stone of Dhaka Club on the 19th of August, 1911.

To commemorate its foundation day through fun fare and festivity, the Club management carefully chalked out a week long colourful programmes to suit the taste of all category of members of different age. President of the Club. Geeteara Safiya Choudhury inaugurated the week long celebration. Past Presidents of the Club and other dignitaries were invited to the Club on the occasion.

The week-long programme was kicked off with the puppet show for the children. Other than usual programmes of the Club like housie, Club nights, foundation day ball, off beat programmes like Nrittyodhara and feature film Matir Moina drew a large crowd comprising of members and their families. In addition to these programmes special art competition for the children and various in-door and out-door sports events were held for the members and their children. President of the Club gave away the prizes to winners.

This year the foundation week celebration brought unprecedented number of members and their families to the Club, bridging three generations in a close bondage and fraternity. The Club that wore a colourful look for seven days had in fact became a family home of the members, making it a real family Club. Many would cherish the memory of the impact that the foundation week had created on the minds of its members.
