It is good news for Bangladeshi expatriates that the original prints of Bangla dramas and Telefilms are now available in the market. So far they usually got pirated copies of these TV productions on VCDs and videocassettes, as these people are always eager to watch the productions of their very own country.

In continuation of its effort, Laser Vision has recently released the VCD of Gaon Geramer Kissa (Tales from Village), a drama which, broadcast at last Eid, won a lot of popularity. Produced by Pratyasha Audio Vision, the drama is written by Pranab Bhatta and directed by Naresh Bhuiyan.

Written in the dialect of Noakhali region, the story of the play involves the confrontation of Saber, a young man who has recently returned from Dubai, with the smuggler Chairman of the village. Saber is however in love with the Chairman's daughter Kulsum whom he left when she was almost a child. When time for chairman elections arrives, Saber stands as a candidate, of course, as an opponent of Kulsum's father. The old Chairman conspires against Saber in many ways. What happens at last? Does Saber win the elections? Is Kulsum able to materialise her love?

Interestingly, persons involved with the play--the writer, director and all the actors--are from Noakhali by birth!

The CD is available at all CD-shops.
