Geetshudha observes Tagore's death anniversary

Tagore captures a very wide space in our culture. The songs, music and lyrics that invigorate us in every phase of our lives, are mostly the creations of Tagore. The songs of Rabindranath animate our lives and senses.' said singer Papya Sarwar, in a programme organised by Geetshudha held at the BETS Centre recently. This programme marked Tagore's death anniversary. The programme, anchored by Rupa Chakrovarty, started with a group song Akash Bhora Shurja Tara. Then one after another singers performed many popular monsoon songs like Bahe Niranton Anata Dhara, Aji Jharo Jharo Mukhoro Badal Diney, Nil Nabaghaney, Aji Borishon Mukhorito etc. The singers rendered about twenty songs.

Besides artistes like Papya Sarwar, Nakul Chandra Das, Krishna Mitra, Tahmida Putul, Zakiya Khatun, Anisa Fazle Lipi, Farhana Haque, Rokhsana Kabir, Moutushi Mallick, Falguni Boshak, Salma-E-Shafi and others,Indian Tagore singer Bashobi Dutt was and added attraction of the show.

The musical hands of the programme were Sunil Kumar Das in violin, Siddiqur Rahman in Mandira, Md. Fariduddin in Tabla, Dipon on the guitar and Sunil Kumar Sarkar on the keyboard.

The director of the organisation Papya Sarwar said, 'When there seemed to be a divided opinion in the notation and style of singing Tagore songs, the young generation took a strong stand to preserve the songs. Geetshudha is with them. We get a chance to show our gratitude to Tagore in these two days of his death and birth anniversaries. We get the chance to purify ourselves with the treasures of Tagore."
