Group Exhibition at Gallery Kaya

Innovation of Earth by Monsur Ul Karim

Monsur Ul Karim is the oldest while Bipul Shah is the youngest amongst the 10 participating artists in the group exhibition. Other participants in the group exhibitions are Rokeya Sultana, Kazi Rakib, Tarun Ghosh, Dilara Begum Joly, Towfiqur Rahman, Shishir Bhattacharjee, Mohammed Fakhrul Islam and Goutam Chakraborty. Besides painting, mixed media, drawing, three sculptures have been exhibited in the showcase of 63 pieces.

Eminent artist Murtaza Baseer who came to view the exhibition on the inaugural day, said "No one can achieve the supreme knowledge in any art form. I have taken cues from the endeavor of young participants in the exhibition. "

Acclaimed artist Dhali Al Mamoon, another viewer, said, "Diversified art forms have been included in the showcase. But, there is a limitation in the group exhibitions in Bangladesh, as artists have to display many works."

Kazi Rakib said, "All the participants are contemporary and regular. I have displayed one sculpture and five paintings at the exhibition. I have used transparent glass as the medium of my sculpture."

Towfiqur Rahman said, "I have displayed two sculptures and five drawings in the exhibition. The key factor of my sculptures is the importance of 'negative space'. I have created the human figure maintaining the characteristics of the materials used for the sculptures."

Shishir Bhattacharjee is displaying five art pieces in the group exhibition. He said, "Usually I do not work on small papers. For this exhibition I have done so. My satirical works always reflect the contemporary condition of myself as well as the country and I have used vibrant colours in the paintings."
