A hunt for rockstars

A press conference was held at a city hotel on October 18 to announce the selection procedure of the latest talent-hunt Drockstar. Frank Fodstad, deputy managing director and Kafil HS Muyeed, marketing director of Grameen Phone, popular rock star Ayub Bachchu and HAR Jewel, director of the DRockstar TV programme, were present on the occasion. Sponsored by a popular brand djuice, the DRockstar team sought the support of the media, the rock music fraternity and the music aficionados of the nation in making a success of this competition.
"The rock music talent-hunt is getting tremendous response from the people. The winners are the undiscovered talents from around the nation," said Aiyub Bachchu.
One hundred contestants have been selected for the Drockstar contest so far. Aiyub Bachchu's team has selected these aspiring rockstars. The 12-episode show will be telecast on Channel i from the third week of November and 10 winners will get the opportunity to perform at concerts with the popular band LRB. In addition, the winners will take part in major concerts at home and abroad along with important artistes of Bangladesh. Aiyub Bachchu will also release an album (composed by him) featuring the singers. The album will be launched on December 16, Victory Day.
Channel i, the media partner of Drockstar, is in charge of telecasting the event. Viewers will get the chance to vote for their favourite musicians by sending SMS from any mobile phone after every performance.
