I want to remain different from others--Tonima

About the release of the album she said, 'It is really difficult for the newcomers to release an album in the present condition. The production companies always go after the prominent artistes for their business policy. If the artistes are newcomers they suggest them to go for the commercial songs only. But, I was reluctant to do that. That is why, to release a new album with non-commercial songs was really a tough job for me.'
Tonima is trying to develop herself as a prominent modern singer. She said, 'I started learning music from my father. I am still practising with him. To develop my potential, I studied music under two musiciansRamgopal Mohonta and Leo J Baroi. In the practice session I usually practise ghazals.'
Tonima is very optimistic about her music career. She said, 'I want to remain different from the other rising singers, as I will never go after commercial songs. Though it is tough to be recognised as a modern singer in a non-commercial approach, I will try my best to do that. Like my father Syed Abdul Hadi, I also believe that music is not for mere entertainment.'
'To increase my potential when I will go to the University of Hawai in the USA for higher education within a few days, I will also enrol myself in the music department there,' Tonima added.
Tonima likes to perform on the stage. She said, 'My father always takes me with him to perform on the stage. I also get some solo offers. On the stage the audience gives an instant response which is really encouraging for me. On the stage I always sing some popular pieces of Syed Abdul Hadi like Ekbar Jodi Keo, Ki Kore Bolibo Aami and other senior singers' songs.'
