Indigenous cultural function in Birishiri

The Deputy Commissioner of Netrakona, presided over the function while MA Karim Abbasi, Member of the Parliament was present as chief guest. Among others, Upazila executive officer, Durgapur, Mosharaf Karim Manju, director of Birishiri Tribal Cultural Academy, Uttam Kumar Richil, assistant director of the academy, the district correspondent of different national dailies and members of the elite were present at the function.

The artistes of the academy along with the indigenous young men and women performed ethnic dances and songs. They also performed dance numbers with Bangla songs.

Birishiri is a cultural and educational centre for the indigenous people. The programme is held every year to celebrate the culture and traditions of indigenous people. People from different areas of greater Mymensingh throng the venue during the event. Young indigenous men and women attend the function in colourful attires, performing their traditional songs and dance numbers.
