An exhibition for children to celebrate the Iran-Bangladesh Children Friendship Week was inauguratedon on December 13, at the Shishu Academy. While inaugurating the exhibition, the State-Minister for Cultural Affairs Begum Selima Rahman said, 'The language of all children of this world is the same because they wish to love the world, their land and everything that is beautiful. Such an art exhibition will strengthen the ties between the two countries.' Among others Shahriar Akhtar Bulu and Feroz Salah Uddin of Bangladesh Shishu Academy, Cultural Counsellor of Iranian Embassy Shahaboddin Daraei, Iranian Ambassador Mohammad Behesthi Monfared and Vice President of the Centre For Intellectual Research of Children and Youth, Iran Shamsuddin Rahmani also spoke at the occasion.Children of the academy performed a song Biswer Shishu Esho Aj both in Bangla and English. A Persian song by the Iranian children followed.
The exhibition hall has been decorated with famous Persian carpets, traditional Iranian dolls and colourful flowers. There are children's books in English including The Legend of the Young Archer, Thirsty for Reunion, Where's the Friend's House, The Tree That Did Not Like Birds and others. There are some traditional toys of Iran, calligraphy, handicrafts made from stones, paper and dolls adorned with traditional Iranian dress. The pictures for and by the children are colourful and depict the life and culture of Iran.
