Iranian filmmaker receives lifetime achievement award at Swiss festival
Iranian filmmaker Abbas Kiarostami was awarded Sunday a Leopard of Honour from the Locarno film festival for his contribution to motion pictures.
The festival wanted to honour "the greatest director in contemporary Iranian filmmaking and one of the great names in film," said its director Irene Bignardi.
Kiarostami, 65, won the Swiss film festival's top prize, a Golden Leopard, in 1989 for his film Where Is The Friend's Home?.
