It takes two to tango

Plans for making this advertisement began early January this year. By February, plans were completed and shooting for the ad was to begin in March. 'During this period, the company where I work was running half time and it was next to impossible to request for a 7-8 day leave,' says Nobel. 'However, Mithu from Partex Group insisted me on getting the leave for the shooting and I didn't have the heart to say "no" to him. Gathering all my courage and confidence, I went up to my boss and finally managed to convince him to grant me the leave.'
The shooting was to be held in Hyderabad. The initial story was very different and unusual. The ad was to run for just a minute, and Nobel was asked to portray the character of a sportsman. 'But I guess luck was not in my favour and I got into big trouble.' On February 22, while playing football, Nobel was badly injured and the doctor advised him rest for one month. It was indeed disappointing, for months everyone had been working so hard with the advertisement and so many things had been planned. 'I couldn't help but feel guilty and kept blaming myself for the misfortune,' says Nobel.
Eventually, the month of March went by and he had almost recovered. With time, the original plan and idea for the RC ad began to change. 'Mithu changed the story line in such a way that I did not have to jump or run around much.'
'I found the jingle for this ad, based on a fusion of folk and the traditional puthi, very appealing. I proposed Babul Supriyo as the singer.' The shooting, recording and mixing of this jingle were all scheduled in Mumbai. The whole team went to Mumbai on June 8 and checked into the J.W. Marriott Hotel.
The shooting was done at a club in Mumbai. Reshmi Gosh turned out to be a very co-operative artiste and it took only two days to shoot the video, which today has become very popular with the viewers.
