ITI seminar in Nepal
The Nepal Centre of the International Theatre Institute (ITI) recently arranged a seminar on "The Idioms of South Asian Theatre". Ataur Rahman, an eminent actor-director and general secretary of ITI Bangladesh Centre and Tamanna Rahman, a reputed dancer of the country presented papers in this Tri-Nation Seminar which opened recently in Kathmandu,
Ataur Rahman presented a paper titled Social Reality in South Asian Theatre and chaired a session. His paper included the street theatre scenario of India and Bangladesh.
Tamanna Rahman presented a paper on Dance form of South East Asia, which emphasised on a common heritage of the region. She also chaired a session. The seminar was attended by the eminent scholars and theatre activists of Nepal, India and Bangladesh.
For all latest news, follow The Daily Star's Google News channel. The participants had the opportunity to watch two stage plays and the traditional dance of Nepal known as Chariya. Fire in the Manastrey, written by Professor Abhi Subedi, president of ITI Nepal and directed by Sunil Pokhyel, was very impressive both in content and presentation.
