Jahangirnagar Theatre's drama festival

To celebrate the occasion, a colourful rally, inaugurated by Professor Selim Al Deen, was brought out from the foot of Amar Ekushey premises. There was also a play, Che'r Cycle, by Bangla Theatre, Dhaka. The venue: Muktamanch (Amphitheatre). V C Professor Khandaker Mustahidur Rahman and Mamunur Rashid attended the evening session as chief and special guest. The JT staged the play Barnadut on the second day of the parban.

Court Martial, a play by Theatre Art, Dhaka, was performed on March 11 while Prachyanat staged Gandar the next day. The Nagarik Natyangon, a theatre group from Dhaka, will stage the play titled Habuchandra Gabuchandra on March 13 and Shangkranti, a production by Aronyak Natyadol, Dhaka, will be presented the following day.

To add a distinctive touch to the festival, the organisers have arranged Palagaan, scheduled to be performed by Islamuddin Palakar, and Baul Shandhya, by the group of Abdus Sattar Mohonto, on March 15 and 16 respectively.

The program will end with the staging of Socrateser Jobanbondi, a play by Drisyapot, Dhaka, on March 17.

The JT will also accord a reception to Syed Jamil Ahmad, Prof Mohammad Zafar Iqbal, Nasir Ali Mamun and Islamuddin Palakar before the staging of the plays. An art exhibition for children will also be held on March 13.
