Just a Little Dream: A movie on child oppression

On January 20, Just a Little Dream was premiered at Hotel Sheraton. Kochi Konther Asar (KKA), USA, an NGO that seeks to protect children's rights, is the producer of the documentary.

Rashid's documentary film encapsulates the aspirations of underprivileged children, such as better schooling, equal rights and prevention of child labour. However, the documentary does not include the dreams of the thousands of oppressed children who work as domestic helps.

Popular actors like Bipasha Hayat and Nader Chowdhury are two major cast members of the film. Subarna Mustafa is the narrator of Just a Little Dream.

Before the premiere of the documentary, delegates from USA like Syed N Ahmed, the executive director of (KKA), USA, Jerry Spivack, co-chairman, communication co-coordinator of the committee of UN, Maurine Judge, the manager of Cardiology Major Hospital and actor Al Burgo delivered speeches.

The delegates gave an overview of child-oppression globally and sought the cooperation of every individual to prevent this phenomenon.

The discussion session was presided over by Dr Mizanur Rahman Shelley, the chief advisor of Konchi Kontho Foundation, while Professor SMA Faiz, the vice-chancellor of university of Dhaka was the chief guest.

Moreover, noted singers like Rabi Chowdhury, Alam Ara Minu and Aankhi Alamgir rendered commercial folk songs in the programme. Three dance pieces presented in the programme were directed by Deepa Khondokar.

Interestingly a child artiste participated in one of the dances featuring the six seasons of Bangladesh. The absence of child artistes in the remainder of the cultural events, was however, an anomaly.
