Kamol Sarkar's 10th death anniversary observed

Kamol Sarkar also a noted dancer and director was involved with Bulbul Academy of Fine Arts. In 1986 he founded Dhupad Kala Kendra. Now headed by his wife and noted dancer Shukla Sarkar, the organisation arranged the remembrance programme to mark his 10th death anniversary.

Tagore exponent Sanjida Khatun and eminent dance director Rahiza Khanam Jhunu inaugurated the event. The programme began with a group dance with the song Aguner poroshmoni chhoao prane performed by the students of Dhrupad. Attired in colourful costumes, the dancers presented a lively show--complete with rhythmic stepping, artistic movement and expression.

Veteran journalist Ataus Samad, cultural personalities Amanul Haq, Ferdousi Ahmed Leena, Khaled Khan, Hasan Arif among others paid tribute to the artiste.

Sajed Akbar and Salma Akbar rendered songs Pothey pothey jete jete and Rotna Sarkar performed Bidai korechho jare nayonno jale. Finally the students of Drupad performed a group dance directed by Shukla Sarkar.
