Kanika Memorial Award 2004, organised in memory of Kanika Bondyapadhyay by Mitali, Indo-Bangla Cultural Society, is going to be held on October 1 at the Shishir Mancha of Kolkata, says a press release. This is the first such joint effort in search of new talents in Tagore songs. The programme is organised in association with Padatik Nattya Sangsad, Bangladesh and Music Academy of West Bengal, India. The six selected contestants of Bangladesh, Aliva Salmin Ivana, Abul Hasnat Saifullah Parvez, Shimu Rani Dey, SM Khaled Ibn Akhtar Pial, Shamma Tasnim and Barnali Chakrovarty, will leave for India on October 10. Three winners will be awarded with crests and honorarium.
