Kishore Khudiram wins applause

Young performers in the play

The story of Khudiram unfolded at the Shishu Academy auditorium recently in the course of the ongoing Seventh Children's Theatre Festival. The group, Rangpur Shishu Natya Kendra staged Kishore Khudiram, a play that clearly moved the audience.

In a scene some young men were depicted undergoing training to carry out anti-British missions. Armed with only bamboo sticks, they sang "Jorse maaro dumdumar benia-der mathay maar." This vignette took the audience back in time, when numerous people gave up their lives for the motherland. Many were never to be found.

In the final scene, while carrying out a mission Khudiram was captured. He managed to survive but the British mercilessly tortured him in prison and finally executed him.

The sizeable audience greeted the actors with a hearty round of applause. The play was written by Abdul Hye Durbar and directed by Razzak Murad.
