Korean film festival in Chittagong

The Chittagong Film Centre (CFC) has organised the festival of Korean films for the first time in Bangladesh in cooperation with the Association of Korean Investors in the Chittagong Export Processing Zone. The aim is to give the film lovers of the country an opportunity to get a glimpse of the Korean film culture.

Noted social scientist Professor Anupam Sen inaugurated the show at the auditorium of Theatre Institute of Chittagong (TIC).

The organisers at a briefing on Sunday said eight contemporary Korean movies that have earned global accolades and several prizes were screened in the festival beginning with the film The Way Home on the first day.

The seven other films, to be shown at Studio Theatre, are: Memories of Murder, Feather in the Wind, Old Boy, The Painting Master, Southern Army Battalion, The Quiet Family and Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter...And Spring.

"Bangladesh has had a wonderful relationship with Korea for quite a long period. This festival may be another landmark for cultural understanding between the two friendly countries," the organisers said at the briefing at Chittagong Press Club.

Debashish Roy, convenor of media and publicity of the festival, read out a statement. Festival chairman Bidhan Barua, director Saibal Chowdhury and Mizanur Rahman Saikat were also present among others.
