Lalon Sharanutshab 2004

In the discussion session, the chairperson of the programme Dr. Momen Chowdhury said, 'Listening to Lalon songs helps us realise that we are human beings, irrespective of all religion and race. Lalon Shah was a firm believer in humanity, which is reflected in all his songs.' Among others, the Director General Ahmed Nazir, translator of Lalon songs M Mizanur Rahman and the patron of Bangladesh Lalon Parishad Mia Majibur Rahman, spoke on the occasion.

The artistes of the organisation performed different spiritual and romantic songs of Lalon Shah in the following cultural session. Among the singers Umme Jahan Arzu, Panna Biswas, Rabeya Rahman rendered songs like Elahi amin go allah, Cheton gurur shanga loyey, Porechhi akul patharey, Oki amar murshid and ami boshey achhi. Panna Biswas's pleasant voice and accent was noteworthy. However, most of the singers with a Jessore dialect performed below par. The acoustics were faulty. The organisation needed to be better prepared to arrange a well-orchestrated programme.
