Madhu Sudan Dutt, or the well-known Madhu Da, was the beloved restaurant owner at the campus. Madhur Canteen as we know of today, is still a centre for gossips, tea and snack breaks and also a very popular place for noted personalities and upcoming politicians of the country.
To mark the 82nd anniversary of the University of Dhaka, a weeklong photography show titled 'Glorious Dhaka University 1921-2003' was arranged at the TSC recently. In the closing ceremony of the exhibition a cultural programme was arranged at the TSC auditorium.

There were some rare photographs and information regarding Dhaka University. One picture showed the authority giving Bangabandhu the lifetime membership of DUCSU back in 1972. Another showed the university authority honouring the Rebel Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam with doctorate degree in 1975. There were pictures of old architectures, Vice Chancellors, Provosts, gold medallist students, winners of the inter-university competitions of Dhaka University and other famous personalities.

The cultural programme began with Tamima Shahreen singing a popular Nazrul song Amay nohe go bhalobasho shudhu bhalobasho mor gan. Later she sang a modern song Ei dunia ekhon to ar. DU gold medallist student Samya Hossain Proma performed a Manipuri dance and Samya Naz sang two modern songs. Afzal Hossain sang two Bhawaia songs Ashi bachhorer bura and Shadher Lau.

Earlier Treasurer of Dhaka University Dr. Syed Rashidul Hassan and the organiser of the show Syed Rezaur Rahman spoke at the occasion.
