Majestic Silks of Bangladesh by Maheen Khan

A conscious textile event to promote traditional and contemporary designs to support the silk industry in Bangladesh will be held on 12 November, 2022. Maheen Khan's designs always represent timeless styles that are enduring. It is with this vision that she celebrates the Silks of Bangladesh. The event is scheduled to be held at Gulshan Lake Park at Road 62, and start from 2 PM till 5 PM, with the show starting at 2:30 PM.

Maheen Khan, champions slow fashion with traditional Bangladeshi design crafts. Her eponymous label, with a thriving national and international audience, finds its genesis in the ideas of sustainability that present fashion as a tool to create participation and empower the local craft community of Bangladesh. The brand's purpose defines the process. The achingly slowed down process of hand-weaving and hand embroidery allows to build sustainable livelihoods for more than 500 artisans.

Her work successfully highlights over the past 25 years the best and most beautiful features of local Bangladeshi traditions. The design house that works on the philosophy of the 3 E's — Environment, Employment, and Empowerment, aims to look at luxury with the participation of women at all levels of value chain and providing an acknowledged long-term experience of engagement with the products. Awareness of the people who are creatively involved and not just consumption.
