A mélange of artistic ideas
The artists invited as participants at the camp were Aminul Islam, Murtaja Baseer, Qayyum Chowdhury, Nitun Kundau, Samarjit Roy Chowdhury, Kalidas Karmakar, Khamiduzzaman Khan, Chandra Shekhar Dey, Ranjit Das, Kazi Rakib, Tarun Ghosh, Masuda Kazi, Shambu Acharya and Shahahan Ahmed Bikash. There were paintings by individual artists along with the exchange of ideas and opinions. The paints were unique and so was the canvas prepared by Shambhu. There were 11 shades of paints. Within a short while the artists gripped the nature of the colours. The outcome was 42 pieces of art work.
Shambhu Acharya's work depicts a farmer with a bird and a woman in the background. A sickle and a hubble- bubble have been included in the composition. In another of his work is a puppet performance with a crocodile and a dancing girl. In Masuda Kazi's work one find a parrot with a red beak in a jet black background. Murtaja Baseer's amazingly stylised portrait of a woman has flat colours like blue and red. Shamarjit Rai Chowdhury's subject is also a woman. Included in the composition are flowers, boats and trees.

Below is a goddess with snakes. Hamiduzzman Khan's scroll has masks in red, brown and green. Kalidas Karmakar's painting has three semi-abstract faces in white and gray, orange and green , done in quick swirls. Aminul Islam's painting had standing and seated figures. A frame of leaves surrounded the human forms.
In Nagarbashi Barman's work we see a scintillating medley of fish, hukkahs and harpoons for catching fish. This is in orange, green and brown. Some of the shapes are realistic while the others have been presented in simplified forms. Ranjit Das has a seated woman, with bold bars, loops and circles of gold and yellow around the figure. Kazi Raqib's painting has a snake, bright as a jewel, swirling around the canvas. The snake has a startling design of dots and lines on it.
The collection of paintings is replete with joie de vivre, bright colours and ecstatic lines.
