Rishilpi an Italian NGO, has launched an innovative cultural programme to build up public opinion against dowry. Thereby the organisation not only seeks to eliminate this curse but also generate awareness among people in areas where dowry and early marriages are prevalent. The programme was held at the premises of BK Adarsha Girls High School at a remote village in Sadar Upazila recently.

Rishilpi launched the programme under the banner of Amar Sonar Paribar, which is being implemented to generate awareness about social evils. The cultural programme included folk songs and drama.

The girls of Amar Sonar Paribar staged a play titled Habo Na Balika Badhu (I will not be an under aged wife). The play was performed by Nurnahar, Sonali, Farida, Chamily, Sheuli, Rozina, Champa, Rumpa and Bilkis.

The programme went a long way in raising mass awareness about the curse of dowry and early marriage. After the programme, people from all walks of life took a joint vow to combat dowry and early marriage and thereby save society from the menace.

Rishilpi will arrange similar programmes at several places in the rural areas and will also arrange motivational programmes and rallies.
