A much needed boost for dance on TV

Young artistes stage a performance in Nupur

Directed by Khalid Mahmud Mithu, the programme is jointly anchored by popular dance artistes Shamim Ara Nipa and Shibli Mohammed.

So far the 52 episodes have featured a glimpse of the Bangladeshi dance culture and interviews with several eminent personalities such as Mustafa Monwar, Kamal Lohani, Ramendu Majumder, Kabori Sarwar, Zinaat Barkat Ullah, Pragna Laboni, Shimul Yousuff, Bijori Barkat Ullah, Tarana Halim, Kabir Bakul, Anjona and others. The programme has also featured a talent hunt session.

At a discussion session held recently, Md Jahangir, co-ordinator and mastermind of the programme, in his welcoming speech said, " I was really fascinated by the dance show as I have a passion for Bangladeshi art and culture. I want to further explore the genre. We have an immensely dedicated team which manages the entire show. Based on viewer feedback, the show's appeal seems to cut across various ages and it surely indicates a growing interest in dance."

Among others, popular dancers Shamim Ara Nipa, Shibli Mohammed, Sohel Rahman, Anjona Sultana, Shuvra, Abdus Samad Polash, Shafikur Rahman, dance director Golam Mustafa, Amanullah and many other eminent cultural personalities also spoke on the occasion. Under the banner of the dance organisation Nrityanchal, the discussion session will be telecast in the 52nd episode at 9 pm on June 6 on ntv.
