The winner of the Silver Peacock Award at the International Film Festival, India, Aagami director Murshed said, "It is my first movie. Made in 1982, Aagami was released in 1984. The movie is a protest against the rehabilitation of the Pakistani collaborators after Independence. In the movie, the protagonist, a young boy, protests in his own way, though the politicians develop a healthy relationship with the Pakistani collaborators for their own ends. Through the protest of the young boy, in Aagami, I have tried to show that the future generation will seek retribution for the evil doers." Aagami got the National Award as the Best Short Film.

Murshed has written the screenplay of Chaka, based on Selim Al Deen's successful drama by the same name. This film has bagged two awards in the German Film Festival, 1993 as well as three awards in France in 1994. On the film, Murshed said, "Though I have taken the theme from Selim Al Deen's play, the presentation of the movie is not like that of a stage play. Through the journey of a cart with a dead body, in Chaka, I have tried to unravel the meaning of life. In the movie there are a few dialogues. I have tried to catch the mood and tempo of the movie with long shots."
