The Bengal Foundation recently organised a three-day musical meet titledShonge theko shongeet 2, where artistes from within and outside Dhaka got together and exchanged musical ideas and thoughts. Held at the Bengal Gallery, this three-day meet included well-known personalities like AFM Saif ud Dawlah, Rezwana Chowdhury Bannya and Ustad Rabiul Hossain as special guests on each day.

Speakers at this occasion asserted their belief that musical programmes and organisations situated outside Dhaka should receive an equal amount of recognition and appreciation from the people and music lovers. However, this does not seem to happen even today.

The artistes performed many kinds of compositions. An enthralled audience listened to classical music, Tagore songs, Nazrul compositions, folk songs including bhawaiyan and bhatiali, Lalon compositions, patriotic numbers and golden oldies.
