Tagore's work comes to the stage

There are numerous stage adaptations of Tagore's literary works. Recently Shekhor Samaddar has dramatised Rabindranath Tagore's novelChaar Adhyay. Through the love story of a young duo Mili and Atin,Chaar Adhyaypresents the anti-British movement of the freedom fighters. The play dwells on the theme of freedo mwhether it should be attained through violence or throughAhingshabad(non-violence movement). Tagore was a votary of the latter course.

The central characters of the play believe that the independence of the subcontinent should come through non-violent approach, however, they face strong opposition from the other freedom fighters who believe in the armed movement.

Badal Das is the light designer while Ajit Roy is the set designer of the play, which is directed by Shekhor Samaddar.
