National film awards for 2002 and 2003 declared

Helal Khan and Shomi Kaiser in Hason Raja, winner of the National Film Award as the best fim of 2002

Helal Khan's much talked about historical film Hason Raja has been named the best film of 2002. Kazi Maruf was adjudged the best actor of 2002 for Itihash, while Manna (Bir Shoinik) and Poppy (Karagar) were named as the best actor and actress of 2003. No prize was declared for the best actress for 2002.

Kazi Hayat has become the best director of 2002 for his film Itihash. The other winners of the year are: Babita for supporting role in Hason Raja, Sujeyo Shyam for best music (Hason Raja), Helal Khan for villainous role in Juari, Tareq Masud for best script (Matir Moyna), Alauddin Ali for best tunes (Lal Doria).

Recently deceased Wasimul Bari Rajib was named winner of the best supporting actor (2003) along with Sohel Rana for the film Shahoshi Manush Chai. Giasuddin Selim won the award for best story of 2003 for Adhiar. Bashir Ahmed (Kokhono Megh Kokhono Brishti) and Baby Naznin (Shahoshi Manush Chai) were named best vocals of 2003.

Veteran lyricist Gazi Mazharul Anowar won the title of best lyricist of both the years for films Lal Doria (2002) and Kokhono Megh Kokhono Brishti (2003).
