Nazrul Academy observes the day
Tariqul Islam said, 'Nazrul led a life full of diversity and struggled against poverty throughout his life. This is turn refined his human traits.' He said that Nazrul spoke for the common people as he could relate very well with the struggling masses.
Among others Mintu Rahman, Syed Abu Zafar Ahmed Rasul, Khairul Alam Shabuj, M Mizanur Rahman, Siddiqur Rahamn, Abdul Gafur, Ashraf Sidique, M Atikur Rahman of Nazrul Academy and the granddaughter of the poet Khilkhil Kazi also spoke on the occasion.
Nazrul Academy, a pioneering institution of research and practice on Nazrul, has been working in our country since 1964. The academy has also taken the initiative to publish the research-oriented journal Nazrul Academy Patrika (Nazrul Academy Journal) on the poet. The organisation has successfully established the Open Nazrul Stage (Unmukto Nazrul Mancha) to mark the birth centenary of the poet.
A cultural programme followed the discussion session at the academy premises. The stereotyped recitation and rendition of Nazrul songs, however, failed to create any impact amongst the audience who want to listen to quality music.
