It all started with "Homework!" The parents felt the burden thrust on to the tiny but growing shoulders of their fledglings. It was then, that in a determined and consolidated manner a group put their heads together and the result was the birth of "The Laurels". The school has, till now, been able to successfully uphold its aim that "education is a total enlightenment." Education cannot be measured only academically but its profound impact can be seen when it produces an all-round human-being who is intelligent, suave and above-all aware of his total surrounding. Accordingly, while feeding the intellectual aspect, the aesthetics began to be explored.

Murals and collages appeared on the walls; the intricacies of the classical "raagas" began to be explored and the vocal chords began to be trained.

The mind-boggling world of multi-media came within the child's periphery and he was no stranger to the world of creation.

Home-works were a part and parcel of their lives but it was dispersed off at school under the vigilant eye of the teachers. The students now have ample time to explore the world of books, music and computers. They spend quality-time with their families and they create an inner-world of joy and sunshine, force from exam-fear, tension and nervousness.

Art, to them is not just still life or scenaries; it is a journey into self-evaluation; it is an exploration into the world of 3 dimensions inspired by their teacher Javed Jalil.

The musical notes, which in the immature hands of these young learners, sounds like tinkering will soon be translated into pare melody under Niloy Das, Samia Naz Lubna, Dipon Sarkar and Imran Ahmed. At "The Laurels" the children are growing up in an atmosphere of freedom and inquiry.
