Four new albums of songs of Lalon and two instrumental of flute were launched on June 10. Internationally acclaimed Lalon singer Farida Parveen and flautist Gazi Abdul Hakim brought their new albums at a ceremony held at the Ball Room of Hotel Sheraton.

The Cultural Attaché of the American Embassy in Bangladesh, Carl Fritz unwrapped the CD covers of the albums. Organised by BSI Inspectorate Ltd, the ceremony was also attended by Professor Syed Manzurul Islam, Representative of the Royal Commonwealth Society of London Tanvir Nawaz Khan, Managing Director of BSI Inspectorate Ltd. Sharfuddin Ahmed, and renowned musician and composer of the flute albums Sheikh Sadi Khan.

Farida Parveen's albums are Tomar Moto Doyal Bandhu, Shamudrer Kuletey Boshey, Bahudin Holo Bhengechhi Ghar and Live Concert in Japan. The titles of Gazi abdul Hakim's albums are Forget Me Not and Anurag.

The inauguration was followed by a brilliant performance by the artistes of the albums. Gazi Abdul Hakim played some classical and folk compositions. The flautist has a bold and unconventional style of playing flute. 'And he loves to experiment with his instrument', as said Syed Manzurul Islam.

As Hakim began his performance, the soothing tender tunes of the flute touched the hearts of the audience. With the strong and deep notes, the audience seemed to be carried away in a melancholic mood. For, the rise and fall of the flute's notes resembled and stirred the human emotions. The tune seemed to reach the pick with the accompaniment of the Tabla.

The final attraction was, of course, Lalon songs performed by Farida Parveen. With her sweetly resonant and profound voice, she spellbound the audience. She performed some of her most popular numbers. She started with the popular patriotic number Ei Padma ei Meghna and went on to sing Lalon numbers like Parey loye jao amay and Khanchar bhitor achin pakhi.
