It is the turbulent time of May, 1971. Some 12-14 frightened and anxious Bangalees are waiting in a line uneasily at gunpoint of the Pakistani Army at the Mymensingh Zilla School premises. 51-year-old Abul Kashem, an officer at Mymensingh Land Registration Office, is also standing in the line. As luck would have it, he gets the opportunity to escape.

Set against the backdrop of the Liberation War, the story of the Independence Day special telefilm Koekti Ghotona O Ekti Shidhhanto unfolds the metamorphosis of a victim of circumstances.

The protagonist of the film, Kashem Ali with his indecisive character, irritates both family members as well as neighbours whose sole aim is to protect his family and especially his young daughter from the cruel Pakistani soldiers. And the horrors of the war make him more perplexed in decision-making--a trait that sometimes galls his elder son, who has a background in student politics and later joins the Muktibahini.

Time passes by. One day Kashem gets a marriage proposal for his younger daughter from a Pakistani major, which stirs the inner soul of the innocent and yet cowardly Kashem Ali. He realises that he has to take a more proactive attitude in order to save his daughter from a cruel fate. Thus the metamorphosis occurs in Kashem's character. As a result he takes the road that leads him towards the warfront.

Written by Mahbub Aziz, Bipul Raihan directs the film. Tarique Anam, Lucky Inam, Sirajul Islam, Litu Anam, and others act in the film, which will be telecast on Channel i on March 25 at 3pm.
