New songs by KG Mustafa

The distinguished lyricist released the audio album Trishna Amar Hariye Gechhe, a collection of his new songs, at the Goethe-Institut Friday last. Veteran Tagore exponent Kalim Sharafi formally unwrapped the CD on the occasion.

Among others, veteran musicians Robin Ghosh, Mobarak Hossain Khan, music composers Daulatur Rahman, Swapon Kumar Das, owner of SS Products Santosh Kumar Ray, singers Nasima Shahin, Shumon Majumdar, Farhana Akhtar, Mamun Zahid, Suporna Sengupta and the lyricist himself were present on the occasion.

In the discussion session, Mobarak Hossain Khan said, "The best two songs of KG Mustafa are Tomarey legechhey, which was originally rendered by Farida Yasmeen, and Kichhu boley mon kichhu boley ankhi by Fauzia Khan. However, I do not agree with the title of the album, which means 'I have lost my craving'. A musician can never lose his craving for music. He will be remembered by music lovers for his enchanting words."

Appreciating the poetic lyrics of Mustafa, Robin Ghosh said, "Like a true musician, he never restricts himself. He has stepped in almost all genres of music. Listeners would remember him for his timeless song Tomarey legechhey..."

Subol Das, one of the most popular music composers, couldn't be present on the occasion due to illness. However, in a message he thanked the organisers and the lyricist for such a melodious audio album.

After the speech by chief guest Kalim Sharafi, KG Mustafa expressed his gratitude to the music company and the organiser. About his album, he shared, "I have expressed everything that I wanted to say through my songs. To me music is life. In my songs I have given voice to all those deep feelings of my heart--love, pain, happiness and dejection."

The album is a collection of 14 songs by Mustafa, which include Akashey aj purnima chand, Ami ek bhiru pakhi, Chokhey chokh porey jodi and Ami kar path cheye thaki. The first album of KG Mustafa Tomarey Legechhey Eto Je Bhalo was released under the same music company in 2003.

The music composers of the album are Subol Das, Swapon Kumar Das and Mamun Zahid. The singers of Panchaswar who have also rendered the songs for the album, presented 10 selected songs at the last session of the programme.
