Nirontor: A new venture by director Abu Sayeed
'I tried to offer a positive approach towards such helpless girls and focus on the humane aspect of the story. In this film, I want the viewers to empathise with the girl's pain. Towards this end, I have emphasised on her psychological torment,' said Abu Sayeed.
Talking about his selection of a specific story for his new film, Abu Sayeed said he wanted to do a film with an urban milieu because all his earlier films were in a rural context.

Abu Sayeed himself is the screen playwright while Mojibul Haque Bhuiyan did the cinematography and S I Tutul composed the music for the film. Produced by Impress Telefilm Ltd, the film stars many celebrated artistes like Shabnur, Ilias Kanchan, Jayanto Chaterjee, Shilpi Sharkar Apu and Shahidul Haque Sachchu.
On his choice of mainstream film stars in his cast, Abu Sayeed says, 'I always feel that the mainstream actors should be given the preference to act in alternative films. Also I want to remove the barrier between the alternative and mainstream film personalities which will be healthy for both.' Abu Sayeed is satisfied with the performance of the mainstream actors as he says they went wholeheartedly into their characters in the film.
The story is about the life and struggle of Tithi, a girl in her 20s. She is the only bread-earner of the five-member family that includes her mother, father and two siblings. Tithi spends her life through different experiences. She meets Dabiruddin who is weary of his sick wife and craves for companionship of the prostitutes. But he cannot approach Tithi, and tells her to come to him for help in future. Meanwhile her brother Hiru is in need of a job and Tithi goes to Dabiruddin's to seek help. There she meets Farida, Dabiruddin's sick wife who is sympathetic towards Tithi. After Farida's death Tithi receives a big amount from her. The twist of the story lies here.
