Palakar stages Reflection

Reflection depicts the voyage from childhood to manhood. Director of the non-verbal theatre Aniket Pal said, "In the course of my stay in England, I worked with a troupe named Dance 4. I saw this type of production there. This is the first time I have applied the concept during the production Reflection. Through physical movement, the artistes have communicated with the audience without words rather using facial expression, gestures, and body language for a duration of 25-minutes. This requires huge reserves of energy along with practice and physical flexibility."

Faruk Hossain one of the six artistes said, "Initially I mixed up non-verbal theatre with mime. In fact, it is a totally different presentation. And communicating a story through physical movement is quite a tough job. I believe this kind of experimental production helps the actors realise their potential. I really enjoyed expressing a story through physical movement."

A limited audience watched the show on August 6, at the studio of Palakar. Theatre activist Mohammed Bari, who saw the show said, "I am amazed to see this experimental production. I believe this type of non-verbal theatre will pick up in the country."
