Palakar's Studio Theatre Lab: Scope for experiments

Aminur Rahman Mukul, the chief of the troupe, said, "We have taken up theatre professionally. To meet this objective, we opened a Studio Theatre Lab at Dilu Road on October 10, 2003, in which Palakar continued Studio Theatre, an intimate theatre form for a limited audience, for three years. And the initiative taken by the troupe is successful in the sense that Palakar

has popularised Studio Theatre in Dhaka. To extend facilities to the audiences we have shifted the theatre lab to Natok Sarani."

At its new Studio Theatre Lab, Palakar offers books and journals on theatre. Interested people can peruse these publications.

So far the troupe has staged seven Studio Theatre performances. Currently the troupe is staging two Studio Theatre performances, Chardeyal and Project 100 Plus at its Studio Theatre Lab. And in October next, Palakar plans to arrange a Studio Theatre Festival in collaboration with Shabdaboli, a troupe from Barisal.

Besides staging Studio Theatre, Palakar stages regular theatre productions at different popular theatre venues such as Mahila Samity Stage and Experimental Theatre Stage.
