Peye Keno Nahi Pai

Warda Rihab and Samina Hossain Prema performing a dance piece while the artistes of Panchaswar render a song

The programme started with a Tagore song Sharthak janam amar rendered by Shumon Chowdhury. The slow paced song was accompanied by harmonium and keyboard. Next on stage was Shimul Mustafa who recited Tagore's poem Swapney in his baritone voice. After two other songs by Nasima Shahin and Mamun Zahid, Ishita Hossain Partho recited Kazi Nazrul Islam's poem Obhishap. With the melodious rendition of the Tagore song Mor beena othhey kon shurey baji by Farhana Akhtar, Warda Rihab performed a dance piece. Her performance was well-received by rounds of applause. Shumon Majumdar rendered Ei udashi hawar pothey pothey and Shumon Chowdhury sang the title song of the show, Nazrul's Peye Keno Nahi Pai.

Three other Nazrul Sangeets were rendered by the artistes of Panchaswar. Samina Hossain Prema danced with Narul's song Rim jhim rim jhim jhim. This was followed by Shimul Mustafa and Ishita Hossain Partho's recital of Abu Zafar Obaydullah's spirited poem Ami kingbadantir katha bolchhi and Abu Hena Mustafa Kamal's poem Chhobi. The romantic poem Banolata Sen of Jibonanada Das, was rendered by Shimul.

Songs of Rajanikanto, Atulproshad and DL Roy were followed by harano diner gaan (songs of yesteryears). Melodious love songs, originally rendered by popular singers including Bashir Ahmed, Protima Bandyapadhyay, Hemonta Mukhopadhyay, Haimanti Shukla and Manna Dey were also presented one after another in the programme. The show ended with a popular number Amar bhalobashar rajprashadey of Manna Dey, performed by Shumon Chowdhury.

The programme was well organised and entertaining, despite flaws in the acoustic system.
