Platform for aspiring photographers

The weeklong exhibition is going to kick off today at 5pm at the Jatiya Chitrashala of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy. A N M Ehsanul Haq Milon, State Minister of Education will inaugurate the exhibition.

The exhibition is treated as the platform for the young students of universities, nationally and internationally to show their creativity in the art of photography.

Starting its journey in 1997, NSUPC is one of the major outlet of creativity for the students in North South University (NSU) which aims to develop good photographers and to establish a network between established and amateur ones. Along with the photography, it has a painting section as well, which focuses on the hidden talents of painters.

This year a total of 26 universities are participating in the exhibition. Among them 19 local universities, both public and private, from around the country and 7 foreign universities are taking part in this major event. The foreign universities are from USA, Canada, England, Australia, Georgia and Thailand.

This year the category of the photographs of the exhibition is divided into two sections: colour, black and white. There are seven sub-sections as well. These include portrait, landscape, nature, life style, still life, architecture and action. These sub-sections are displayed in both colour, black and white.

NSUPC will honour two photographers, late MA Beg and Amanul Hoque of Bangladesh as "Honourable Mention" in the inauguration ceremony. With them, NSUPC is going to add two more names -- Late Gulam Kashem Daddy and Naibuddin Ahmed in the honour list by showcasing their portraits in the gallery.

The official partner of this event is Canon -- Rangs Bangladesh Ltd and the media partners are The Daily Star and Prothom Alo.

The exhibition is open to all till June 4 from 11am to 7pm.
