Plays with hard hitting themes
Dr Enamul Huq has adapted Utshob from the origin of Russian drama legend Anton Chekhov's play titled The Anniversary. Through a chaotic sequence in the course of an anniversary ceremony of a private bank, Utshob features how the working class is oppressed by the bourgeois in the name of professionalism. Imran Humayun Khan is the director of the play.
The other play, staged by the students of the second batch of NNID, was Suranga by Syed Waliullah. Featuring the rural social structure, Suranga, focuses on how greed generates social disorder. Sajjad Ahmed Reza is the director of the play.

Professor Kabir Chowdhury was the chief guest while Ataur Rahman was the special guest of the programme. Lucky Enam, the chairperson of NNID, Professor Niranjan Adhikari, Professor Abdus Selim and Ziaul Hasan delivered speeches in the programme, presided over by Dr Enamul Huq, the principal of NNID. Discussants basically focused on the necessity of theatre education to create quality theatre representatives.
