A popular face in TV plays

Does he prefer comic roles? Faruque says, "I love acting and for me the type of the character is never an issue. In Bangladesh, most of the directors do not want to go for much experiment. When an actor clicks at a certain type of character, the directors repeatedly cast him for similar roles. That is why viewers watch me mostly doing comic roles. However, lately director Humayun Ahmed has been offering me some experimental roles."

Faruque Ahmed performs in several TV plays, tele-films or full-length films directed by Humayun Ahmed. To quote Faruque, "We have a very good understanding and as a result it synchronises well. He knows my potentials and I like his way of working. As a playwright, Humayun Ahmed has a wonderful sense of humour, which I can portray with ease."

"As a director Humayun Ahmed has his unique style. He knows how to achieve accuracy and perfection through his actors. That is why I prefer his plays to those of other playwrights" adds Faruque.

Faruque has had extended experience in the theatre arena as well. He started his acting career when he was a student. Founder member of Jahangirnagar Theatre, Faruque Ahmed joined Dhaka Theatre in 1983. From then on Faruque has performed in 12 stage plays like Keramat Mangol, Kirtan Khola, Chaka, Hath Hodai, Bonopangshul, Prachya.

Faruque Ahmed has recently emerged as a TV playwright. His play Uchcha Bangshiyo Patro Chai, a single episode comedy, has been well received by the viewers. Faruque says, "I prefer writing comedies. City dwellers often face a lot of problems and predicaments which is why I try to provide some comic relief through my acting."
