The posters of the Oscars

Adding to the excitement, the official poster of the Academy Awards is available to the public once more. This year on its 77 anniversary the Oscar posters present the statuette in a blaze of colours: various shades of magenta, cyan, orange and green, with a modern design by graphic artist Brett Davidson. Each poster (27" by 40") is printed on premium paper. The first 5,000 posters ordered will feature reverse printing on the back, just like one-sheets featured at movie theatres.

Oscar posters have a distinctive history. Last year was all about the fun and excitement, the flash and pizzazz of Oscar Night. To capture that spirit, the Academy commissioned pop artist Burton Morris to create the official poster art for the 76th Academy Awards.

The year 2003 was about the history and elegance of Oscar's diamond anniversary. In celebration of its diamond anniversary and the 75th Annual Oscar ceremonies, the Academy created two new official posters.

After a 40-year absence, in 2002 the Oscar made a dramatic return to the city of dreams that had launched the legend over seven decades ago. To commemorate the return of the Oscar ceremony to Hollywood, the Academy commissioned renowned graphic novel illustrator Alex Ross to design the official poster of the 74th Annual Academy Awards. The Gold Knight Returns was written on a Hollywood background and obviously the grand arrival of the Oscar statuette was also there. Moreover, the celebration was back to where it all began.
