The packed hallroom of the National Museum at the very beginning gave an amusing impression, that the number of Rabindra Sangeet lovers in the country has doubled, even tripled, overnight. The impression, however, did not last long. For, most of the crowd consisted those that usually come on holidays to visit the neighbouring Shishu Park and the Museum at Shahbagh. They did not stay long.

Rabirashmi, an organisation for practising and promoting Rabindra Sangeet and other performing arts of Rabindranath Tagore, was hosting the Rabindra Sangeet evening titled Tomarey Namashkar at the National Museum Auditorium on September 5, to celebrate the organisation's 5th anniversary. The most important part of the programme was to accord a reception to eminent Rabindra Sangeet artiste Shudhin Das. The singer could not however attend due to ill health, and the reception has been postponed until Rabirashmi's next function.

Emerging in 1998, Rabirashmi has so far carried on regular presentation of Rabindra Sangeet and dance. Besides, at different times it has given reception to remarkable Rabindra personalities like Kalim Sharafi, Ajit Roy, and eminent Rabindra scholar Wahidul Haque.

Kalim Sharafi, President of Bangladesh Rabindra Sangeet Shilpi Shangstha, was present at the event as chief guest. Mahadev Ghosh, Director of Rabirashmi, presided over the function. Popular reciter Bhaswar Bandyopadhyay conducted the programme. Rabindra Sangeet artistes Sadi Mohammad and Tapan Mahmood also attended the programme.

Rabirashmi presented a lot of popular Rabindra songs. Apart from the singers of the organisation, dance performers of Nrityalok Shangskritik Kendro also presented dance. The programme was dedicated in memory of Rabirashmi's recently deceased member Merry Monica Gomes.
