A recitation programme, organised by Alhaj Md. Johirul Haq, was held at The National Press Club auditorium recently. Swapna Dey, a newscaster as well as a presenter of Kolkata Doordarshan, recited poems on the occasion. Chaired by poet Belal Chaudhury, the chief guest for the occasion was the eminent poet Shamsur Rahman. Asaduzzaman Noor, MP, a prominent figure of our cultural arena, and Momtazuddin Ahmad were among others who attended the occasion.

Swapna Dey started the programme with Nazrul's poem Nomo Nomo Bangladesh Momo. In the first part of the programme entitled Amar Sonar Bangla, she selected poems that glorify the country. In the second part entitled Prem Diley Na Prane, she read out some sentimental pieces and in the third part, Brishti, she presented romantic poems by Tagore and other poets.

Her voice modulation as well as rhythmic presentation was enjoyable. Her last piece, Nazrul's Agomoni, was her best presentation. On her request, Asaduzzaman Noor recited a part from Nuruldiner Sharajiban by Syed Shamsul Haq. However the sound system was one of the drawbacks of the programme.
