Rhythm of life

Talking about the launch, one of the directors of Nrityanchal, Shibli Mohammad said, 'When we went on a tour of different countries people would ask for a VCD or video cassette to have an idea about our local dance but we could not come up with one. Now, with this new dance VCD we can present a clear picture of our local dances. Moreover, it will remain as a record of our performance for future refference.'
He further said, that, this VCD is a piece of pure entertainment and in the near future Nrityanchal will release an educational video on dance as well.
The chief guest of the programme, drama activist Mamunur Rashid, unveiled the VCD and said, 'The practice of dance in our plays is very poor. The international appeal for the body language is very unique in theatre and we are deprived of this art. But in the last ten or fifteen years we have been able to change the scenario. Now all the plays that received public appreciation have choreography. It is a very positive change.'
Among others Muhammad Jahangir, dancer Belayet Hossain Khan, Khalid Hossain of Geetanjali and Shamim Ara Neepa also spoke on the occasion. The VCD Tarana was screened later in the programme.
Tarana includes White Pigeon, Tagore dance Keton Orao, Snake Charmer, Tarana, Harvest, Enchanting Face, with the Bangla version of the popular song My heart will go on, Chandraboli, East-West, Freedom(which is a music video) and Motherland.
