Russian Crystal Fair

Nipun Enterprise has brought the crystals, which are being exhibited till December 25 in colours of blues, greens and reds, to Dhaka. The fair consists of crystal pieces in the forms of various animals like bulls, horses and cows, right from the heart of the Russian countryside. One can also find peacocks and hens the size of a thumb. Intricate designs have been made on ashtrays of different sizes and shapes, ranging from Taka 150 to Tk 15,000. Moving to the bigger size range, flower and fruit baskets in crystal are being exhibited at the fair, in shades of blue, red and green. Spectators were in awe of the blue and green horn-like crystal water bags, which so much resembled the ones carried by shepherds on the Russian highlands.
The audience had their eyes on chess set, with crystal pieces, reflecting the lights shining on them. Other pieces consisted of flower vases, candle stands, little drawing room decoration pieces and many more. These designs undoubtedly depict the Russian culture, which have been fascinatingly carved in crystal for all to see and wonder about.
According to Yusuf Hassan, the proprietor of Nipun Enterprise, not only do they have Russian expatriate customers, but also many Bangladeshi collectors who have an eye for these Russian pieces. 'After the exhibition, we plan to shift these pieces to the showroom in Gulshan, where collectors and crystal lovers will always be welcomed.' Hassan remarks.
